Ben turns 1

Wow what a huge week. Ben's turned one, had to can his party coz the boys both had horrible coughs, I was exhausted.... ah, such is the life of a family with 2 little ones! Here's some pics, pretty funny, we have this AMAZING farm/park thing (in Matakana) with an electric train, heaps of incredible and very creative playhouses, huge park, a row of old tractors, and heaps of farm animals - including Llamas! Best of all it's free so can head out there whenever, spend a few hours and everyone is tanked up on Quality Time, always a good thing! We are so blessed to have so many great places to take the kids on a budget :)

Amidst all of this have been having lots of dreams lately - and the cool thing is that they are mostly preparing me for what is up next. God is so good and so kind to us....the wind of change IS blowing....are we ready and will we be flexible to ride it out?! If we surrender absolutely to him, who knows what the future holds.

An angel

Yesterday I got a phone call from a doctor who I still think is at least part angel. Dr Aftimos. He wants to see Nathie next week. To see how he is going. Something must have triggered his memory to see him and I am thankful! He was a life saver! Perhaps something will turn a corner with Nath's eyesight this week. I am reminded today just how merciful God has been in Nathan's health (and Ben's for that matter). It doesn't seem long ago that he was screaming in pain for hours...weeks....months. One week after seeing Dr Aftimos Nathan was taken in for his first surgery followed by his second after Christmas.

I don't know how mums do it with constant pain or deformities in their children. I do know that through it all I am different person and Nathan is too. And the time we spent with Nathan - holding and helping him and praying with him was a good way to start his li'l life. Here's some pics of him today!

Vegies

So I did something today that I just never thought I would do. Vegeterian lasagne. i had always kinda figured being vegetarian is a waste of time. No offence to the vegans out there, but it is quite troublesome and I really love people who will just eat anything or at least most of what you put in front of them (within reason, but you know what I mean). Anyway, it was awesome. Definately going to do it again. Pumpkin, garlic and basil.....cottage cheese and stuff....mmmmmm....it was delicious!

Update on kids today: Nath has been super hyper. Kids really do have a high gear we don't even know about.

Ben speaks!

Have just returned from a weekend at my ever-encouraging parents and ever-evolving brothers and sisters. And Ben started talking while we were there! Mumumum and Daddaddaddad. Pretty cool!

It's always so good bing down there, and this time got to go out and do some sister things (you know, like shopping), pretty awesome!

Check out the vid of Ben's first words! He sure is turning into a big boy, at the supermarket he got to sit in a big trolley seat all on his own! Thank goodness they still have buckles! Isn't he cute with his one little tooth!

Ben started talking and we caught it on video!

Irregular

It's been so long since I've actually written which is sometimes normal for my irregular communication. Have too much inside and too little time to bring it out. Then I log on and am trying to think of something short, succint and profound but sometimes it's just a little too personal to put on the web.

Some cool things going on:
- paying off big chunks of our debt. Super cool.
- got some new clothes, including a cute pair of jeans, yeah, alright.
- We are insulating our house, batts for the roof just arrived. This is going to be GREAT for winter.

Some interesting things
- Ben finds it impossible to be still. He is super strong willed too.
- I never buy jerseys in the hope that it will be such a warm winter I won't have to.

That's all for now folks, more later...

Hospital

Just been to hospital for Nath's check up. Before I start this, you're quite fortunate to be hearing from me! Our internet has been down all week and I said "Lord, what should I do" without a blink, an answer came straight to me and voila! Here I am!" Was quite an encouragement. So here are the main points.

> Nath is a CHAMPION. Though a few grizzles and kicks and squirms (totally understandable, we had a chat about how annoying the doctors were when they look in your eye with all kinds of things), he was really good and even put his chin up on one of the machines to look at the different coloured lights all by himself with no complaining.
> The optometrist who gets Nath's lenses seems to be a lot more comfortable with kids now which was really cool and alot easier.
> I was able to be really upfront with them about how things are
> His good eye is SO good
> This is the main problem, because his good eye is so good, he stops using his weak eye almost completely.
> Need to perservere and patch his eye lots so that his weak eye can keep growing stronger.

It's hard, I just tried to explain what was happening and had treats afterwards...on the way home he was like "no worries mummy, no worries dad" - he seems to pop out like that exactly when I'm a bit uptight....

Funniest thing I saw today - someone had left a dirty nappy on top of the parking thing (where the poles are)....there were no rubbish bins in the car park....no, didn't have the courage to pick it up.....though wouldn't have made a difference, I was already looking for somwhere to put a pongy one anyway....
