Concern
They say
I must not care so much,
or feel so deeply.
I shouldn't study
or read depressing books
like Under the Rubble,
or China Today.
Rather, I should play,
read Agatha Christie,
and relax.
Which would mean
bottling up my
deepest concerns,
turning off my mind,
and growing bored.
But heart and mind have
no faucets - "Hot" and "cold",
no switch for
"on" and "off."
Cannot one live with concern,
read deeply,
and still relax?
Concern, undergirded
with confidence,
knowing that God
is in control.

Look!
Check out what I came home to!!!!! I was so touched by this - lots of late nights from Nika and a few of his good guy friends.

I feel absolutely refreshed after a week down at Mum and Dad's, where I got to bring alot of my friends (and offer Mum and Dad's hospitality) and show them what is happening down there...I just love that place! I'll write more later.....Nathan and Ben love it too - Nath had some great times with Grandad....not even Matt could interrupt! "shhh Matt...Nathan's talking to Grandad". Over and out....out to do the washing....

Ben turns 1

Wow what a huge week. Ben's turned one, had to can his party coz the boys both had horrible coughs, I was exhausted.... ah, such is the life of a family with 2 little ones! Here's some pics, pretty funny, we have this AMAZING farm/park thing (in Matakana) with an electric train, heaps of incredible and very creative playhouses, huge park, a row of old tractors, and heaps of farm animals - including Llamas! Best of all it's free so can head out there whenever, spend a few hours and everyone is tanked up on Quality Time, always a good thing! We are so blessed to have so many great places to take the kids on a budget :)
Amidst all of this have been having lots of dreams lately - and the cool thing is that they are mostly preparing me for what is up next. God is so good and so kind to us....the wind of change IS blowing....are we ready and will we be flexible to ride it out?! If we surrender absolutely to him, who knows what the future holds.

An angel
Yesterday I got a phone call from a doctor who I still think is at least part angel. Dr Aftimos. He wants to see Nathie next week. To see how he is going. Something must have triggered his memory to see him and I am thankful! He was a life saver! Perhaps something will turn a corner with Nath's eyesight this week. I am reminded today just how merciful God has been in Nathan's health (and Ben's for that matter). It doesn't seem long ago that he was screaming in pain for hours...weeks....months. One week after seeing Dr Aftimos Nathan was taken in for his first surgery followed by his second after Christmas.
I don't know how mums do it with constant pain or deformities in their children. I do know that through it all I am different person and Nathan is too. And the time we spent with Nathan - holding and helping him and praying with him was a good way to start his li'l life. Here's some pics of him today!

Vegies
So I did something today that I just never thought I would do. Vegeterian lasagne. i had always kinda figured being vegetarian is a waste of time. No offence to the vegans out there, but it is quite troublesome and I really love people who will just eat anything or at least most of what you put in front of them (within reason, but you know what I mean). Anyway, it was awesome. Definately going to do it again. Pumpkin, garlic and basil.....cottage cheese and stuff....mmmmmm....it was delicious!
Update on kids today: Nath has been super hyper. Kids really do have a high gear we don't even know about.
